 | RCA WHP141 900MHZ Wireless Stereo Headphones
RCA whp141 900mhz wireless headphones -- 2010-04-11 To me the double arch (across the top of the head) looks a bit goofy, but to it's credit the design works very well. So much for "looks". Of course the performance is what counts, and in this case, the performance is excellent, at least as good as or better than other units I've had in the past,(include wireless and wired types). I'm talking about sound quality AND comfort.
Surprising -- 2010-02-24 I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sound on these headphones for the price. Stereo separation is excellent. Not a fan of dork-sized headphones like these, but they are no heavier than wired ones like this. The hiss is easily minimized by adjustment of input volume vs. headphone volume.
Pro: Excellent sound quality. Excellent stereo separation. Excellent sound separation - e.g. iTunes, game, Skype call at same time, no muddiness. Great bass response. Dead simple setup.
Con: Occasional wireless sound glitch. Still not neural implant.

 | RCA Ri503 Sound System with Universal Dock for iPod
Katie -- 2010-07-01 Portable, lightweight, and easy to use. Decent price. I bought it to use with my iPod touch at work. It sounds great! Does not give me any error messages when I plug my iPod into it. Remote is very handy. Can run on batteries or plugged in to a wall outlet. Would definately recommend this product. Worth the $$!!
Nice unit for the price -- 2010-04-07 The sound isn't the best but for the price it is alright. It looks nice on my table and enables me to listen to my iPod without headphones or ear buds which is just what I was wanting. It won't hold my iPod with it's silicone case on but that is not a major issue with me. Nice little product.

 | Rca S2002 Jet Series Sports Mp3 Player (2 Gb)
Low end - with annoying random number generator ... -- 2010-03-13 I bought it to be used in the gym - it is compact and with the aid of a small utility named "iTuneMyWalkman" can be easily synchronized with playlists in iTunes (Macintosh) - it has a helpful stopwatch. Turned out that the sound quality is poor, the volume is poor, the headphones must be replaced to have a reasonable sound quality, the control is not intuitive, and the buttons are uncomfortable. HOWEVER, once I set it up, I don't need to touch the controls anymore and in the gym I don't mind to lower my expectations from the sound level - and hence the most annoying thing is the shuffle mode - it always starts from the same point. Thus, you can have 1Giga of songs, but you are always going to hear the same 2 hours of music AWAAA. To overcome that I have to forward the songs manually till you get to a song that you didn't hear last time - and as I said, the controls are inconvenient and the buttons are lousy. Next time I am going to pay additional $60 and buy me an iPod.
Lousy battery. Poor quality even at this price. -- 2010-02-17 All I wanted was an inexpensive mp3 player to use in the gym. My last one (Zen Nano) broke after I dropped it and I wanted something a little more robust. I assumed that the low price had to do with the lack of bells and whistles on this very basic player but apparently it is a reflection of the quality as well. The battery life is horrendous. It only lasts an hour or two in use and seems to drain over night when the device is turned off. The controls are difficult to use and I was unable to get it out of stopwatch mode with hitting reset. There is definitely a niche in the market for a tough little no frills player but this does not fill it.

 | Lyra SL5016 16 GB Digital Media Player/FM Radio with Voice Recording and Full Color Display (Maroon)
Excellent Quality MP3 Player Lyra SL5016 -- 2010-06-16 I love this MP3 player. It is the 1st I have purchased and the ease of use was amazing. It holds all of my music and there is still room for more! My favorite feature is the slider~ when it's closed and in my pocket or purse there is no chance I will be hitting those buttons.
Excellent as MP3 Player, But Has Serious Drawbacks & Flaws -- 2010-04-11 After accidentally drowning my Sansa player, I needed a new player so I picked the Lyra over the Sony Walkman for its features as well as hearing the Sony is a scratch magnet. Given a second chance though I probably wouldn't do so again. The Lyra is a mixed bag of some good quality, unique features, and severe drawbacks.
Pros:
+++++
+ Excellent sound quality for MP3 files
+ Small size -- easily fits in a shirt pocket.
+ Easy to use with intuitive controls
+ 2.2 inch video screen -- larger than most
+ 16GB memory (14.74GB max avail)
+ FM radio with 20 presets and recording capability
+ Voice recorder function (more handy and useful than most would think)
+ Software to catch streaming video/audio (Youtube, Hulu, etc) and auto-transfer it into the player (try THAT on something else!!)
+ Graphic Equalizer
+ Plays MP3, and converted WMV/WMA, MPEG4, MOV, AVI, and most other files that play on your computer -- no slave to media company dictates
+ Able to delete files without a PC hookup
+ No proprietary USB cable
+ Reasonable and affordable price
+ Audio book function
+ Numerous ways to access a song: name, year, folder, genre, group, etc
+ Good battery life with recharge progress meter and advises when full
CONS:
-----
- Mediocre picture quality
- Mediocre FM sound: poor stereo separation; almost like listening in mono. Very different from listening to an MP3 song.
- No protective carrying case or pouch
- No memory card expansion slot
- Not unique to this unit or brand, but video file conversion is agonizingly sloooooooow
- Earphone jack is on bottom
-
If you're just looking for an MP3 player, the Lyra would be great. But with an 8 or 16GB memory most would probably want good video as well, and this is where the possible deal killer is -- the picture quality is at best mediocre. My old Sansa had a crystal clear sharp picture and many other players probably do as well. But the Lyra picture is grainy with coarse vertical lines in it (not just in files you bring in, but the sample files that came with it as well). If you're looking to watch something on a long haul flight or a long trip in the backseat, you're likely to be quite disappointed.
The FM radio sound was also inadequate. The stereo sound separation is awful and there is little difference to songs if you switch the radio to mono. It's in sharp contrast to the MP3s played which sound excellent. Like many other players the earphones are cheap and it'd be well worth getting some good headphones. There
also is no external card expansion slot but with over 14GB few will care.
Everyone has different needs, so you can decide for yourself if this is the item for you. If only there was something with all these killer features that was affordable and also had good audio/video......

 | RCA TH1802 2 GB Thumbdrive with FM Radio and Voice Recording (Black )
If you have a MAC - DON'T BUY THIS -- 2010-05-09 This is so completely frustrating, if you own a mac there is absolutely NOTHING that you can do with this device. I find it especially annoying that I bought this and THEN found out that it wasn't usable with a mac. Even drag and drop doesn't work on this thing. If you're going to offer NO SUPPORT for it you should make it really clear that this is NOT USABLE with a mac. Furthermore, for me the whole point of having an mp3player is to listen to audiobooks on it. This is incredibly difficult to do even on a PC with this device since it doesn't recognize any audiobooks that aren't audible.
VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED.
I'm on my second one of these -- 2009-12-26 They have a very short lifespan. I don't know whether it's a firmware problem or a hardware problem - the firmware hasn't been updated - but they tend to crash, which I didn't think was possible for a flash device. After about three months, mine refused to turn on, and my PC wouldn't recognize it when I plugged it in. My replacement sometimes hangs on booting up, or refuses to recognize certain files ("Cannot play this file") on some boots but not on others.
Other aspects:
*The interface is a bit clumsy, and it's easy to hit the wrong quadrant on the gamepad-style controls.
*Player inconsistently decides on booting whether to resume playing where you left off on shutdown, or to take you to the menu. I studied it for weeks trying to figure out what was making it choose one option or the other, but it's utterly without rhyme or reason.
*Interface has difficulty understanding file tagging. Mainly it ignores it.
*Capacity is closer to 1.8 Gb than 2.
*Sound quality is fine, but this device is quieter than other MP3 players I've used.
*The voice recorder produces unusually grainy results. I've actually gotten good results with the FM radio, although the first unit had trouble retaining presets at first.

 | RCA M4102 2 GB Digital Media Player/FM Radio with Voice Recording (Silver)
Good item for the price -- 2009-12-30 This mp3 player is great for the price. It's very simple to load songs, easy to use, and sounds good. The video and picture quality is poor, but you can't really expect much for only paying $40. If you want an easy to use mp3 player for mostly music, this one is great. If you want the best in quality for pictures and video, go another route. It also plays radio and allows you to record songs off the radio and store them to your music folder. I bought this for my niece as a gift and am considering one for myself now.

 | RCA HP 242 - Headphones ( behind-the-neck )
Plain and practical -- 2010-01-23 These earphones allow me to sleep on my side, ear against the pillow as I fall asleep listening to audio books. The little pads do come off and get lost but I've not noticed any difference in feeling. The sound quality is excellent for books. They don't last forever, but the price is good. I'm purchasing a couple of sets now that will last me for year or more.
Really hard to find headphones -- 2009-07-15 I had bought a pair of these headphones at walmart and i really liked them, but I accidentally broke them by being lazy and not moving the cord while I was vacuuming and so the vacuum ripped the cord out. After that I went back to [...] in search of another but they never had them, they only had them at [...] and i wasn't going to buy something online from [...] lol. I really like this pair of headphones, they stay on your head and dont move around, they're fashionable, and the cord is very durable (except for with vacuum cleaners lol). I think the bass could be a little higher but overall a very worthy pair of headphones.

 | RCA Lyra RD1080 128 MB MP3 Player
SD compatibility report -- 2007-02-19 Okay, so most of the information about this item's features and usability have already been covered in the existing reviews. It's a USB 1.1 device, it's not easily searchable through its primitive "back/next" interface, and so on. (Has anyone else mentioned that if your batteries die in the middle of a song, the player doesn't "save your place" in the playlist? Say you have 30 songs, you started at #5, and your batteries die during #16. When you replace the batteries and power up, you're back on #5 instead of #16.) That's the bad news - I'm here to give you the good news.
First, although early units were tied exclusively to MMJB, later firmware fixed that problem. All you have to do these days is connect the unit (which reads as a USB flash drive) and drag MP3s into it. It's slow, but it works. Just make sure you pay attention to the way you load it, as the first song loaded is the first one played.
Second, and to my very happy surprise, I've been able to use two 2GB cards in my unit (the 1080B version) - one regular SD stick and one TransFlash/microSD chip in an adapter. I have verified that the player is reading past the 1GB threshold; it will handle the full 2GB card capacity. Of course, I don't suggest using the player's USB 1.1 interface to load a card of that size; you're much better off using a USB 2.0 reader for that. Unfortunately, the device's age dictates that it is not SDHC-compliant, so 2GB is as good as it gets - but given the other features of the unit, that's plenty.
In short, I've had this for a long time and plan to have it for the foreseeable future - as long as it doesn't die on me.
Good Player, Ok Sound, great for beginners -- 2006-08-16 This player has expandable memory which is great, but the problem is that it's not searchable. There is no way to find the song you want to play. Files transfer to it easily and quickly. I think I am going to upgrade to an IPod of some kind for its more advanced features.
