Buenos para una vida fuerte -- 2010-07-30
Son buenos audífonos, no bloquean todos los sonidos exteriores pero tienen buen bajo y son baratos, la calidad de sonido es aceptable y son cómodos. Muy buenos en general.

An excellent value, but... -- 2010-07-29
Be aware that the cord is not very long ( about 54") ...you may well need an extension cord to use them in many situations.

Koss PortaPro Headphones with CaseKoss PortaPro Headphones with Case

Finally tried Koss Portapro -- 2010-07-28
I have been having Grado Labs SR60 and SR80 for a couple of years, but Koss Portapro always rings into my mind as they are much cheaper, and they are supposed to be really good with a sound signature somewhat similar to my Grados.

Okay, I finally pulled trigger two weeks ago. My initial impressions are (only burned in for about 10 hours).

- Bass is a little too much (that's expected and is a selling point for Portapros). But with EQing, I can make it a bit better to my taste.

- Sound is not too clear overall (comparing with Grados of course), but this may improve over time with more burned in (based on my prior experiences).

My sources are very decent MP3 players and laptop with external sound card. No external amps were used in any way.

In the end, Portapro lives within my expectations. I like them for their compact shape, portability (which Grado lacks), comfort (slightly worse than Grados). I think these are not as good as Grado Labs SR60 and SR80, if a straight comparison has to be made. Value wise, I would go to SR60 if you can buy used. If you only buy new electronics, then these are really good values.

Mine broke (twice), but they have a great warranty -- 2010-07-28
These are really great. I love them. They are loud, good bass that doesn't sound muddy. Well balanced sound, not tinny but very full sounding.

It looks like they updated the end of the cord since I bought them. Mine was a straight style cord and because of the tension caused by gravity on the end of the cord, my left channel failed after 2-3 months. I sent them back to Koss and they replaced them for ~$7 (including shipping) and they got them back to me in a week. I was really impressed until the new pair failed in the exact same way, only this time it took 2-3 WEEKS for it to happen.

BUT it looks like they switched to an L-shaped end of the cord, which is very smart. I don't know if it matters though because I've had many pairs of ipod headphones and they never fail, they just sound crappy and then break after enough sweat drips in them when i go running. I dunno..

Best headphones for the price -- 2010-07-30
I've tried many headphones, I used to use the in-ear ones, but I gave it a try with these, and you can't go wrong. They are incredible comfortable, you can use em for hours and never notice them. They have great bass, and the audio response is amazing, the belt clip may be a little annoying, but that would be the only con, overall they're amazing!

Good value headphones, great sound. -- 2010-07-28
I have ordered one of these headphones because I was looking for a product with good sound quality, but not spending a lot of money. These headphones complied with my requirements. They have nice sound reproduction with great bass response from where I know (amateur music listener) and the price tag is very good. At the beggining, I had to get used to the earcup size, but now they feel great in my ears. The weight of the heaphones is optimal, making them already more comfortable. Also, they bring up a generous amount of cable so you will never get short if you are using them in situations where you have to be in some way separated to the jack plug, etc.

I am happy with these headphones, I recommend them a lot.

Sony MDR-XD200 Stereo HeadphonesSony MDR-XD200 Stereo Headphones

No complaints -- 2010-07-26
Indeed the most comfortable speakers around. I found some comments that mentioned that the speakers might uncomfortable if you have a big head (like me, I have a helmet size XXL) but I found those claims to be unsubstantiated. With these speakers you get the most bang per buck.

My dads is hard to please -- 2010-07-26
Bought as fathers day gift for him to use with his desktop, complained about sound quality... Unit has a movie and music mode which I didnt care for much but could use more then pops. May just take them from him and use for my office... Get him some better ones..

I really love these headphones... too bad they're so fragile -- 2010-07-26
These affordable headphones have such great sound and are so comfortable, I can wear them 8 hours straight while at work. Those in-ear designs have me writhing in agony after 30 minutes of use, but not these babies! The over-the-ear design is ideal for work, where I need to be semi-aware of what's happening around me, but also need to be able to block out surrounding distractions. These phones succeed on both counts. Just be aware there is a lot of bleed out, so your cubicle neighbor might complain if your volume is high.

They're so affordable, I bought a few pairs so I can just keep one pair at work and one at home.

The bad news, they're not all that durable. I've gone through 3 pairs now. The mechanism that connects the wire to the earpiece is not reinforced and tends to come loose so the sound cuts in and out for a while before failing entirely. But they are so dang comfortable, I can' help myself-- I'll just keep buying this model as they fail. (I was able to restore one to health with a drop of solder.)

Koss (ksc75) Portable Stereophone Headphones -- 2010-07-21
Hi

Everytime I use these, I still can't believe the incredible sound that's coming out of these. It is so shocking how little they cost and the superb sound that comes out. More than worth the cost. Definitely.

Sennheiser HD-555 Audiophile HeadphonesSennheiser HD-555 Audiophile Headphones

Great headphones at great price -- 2010-07-29
This is my 2nd pair of Sennheiser headphones. My first pair was the hd-212, they were great, but i felt that the base was to over powering, so I bought the hd-555, but because I thought they would be more of what i wanted, after owning these for little over 2 weeks now, i can definitely say That these are the most comfortable, and best sounding headphone i have ever owned. They live up to all my expectations every way. I know some people say that these are a little light in base region but to my ears they sound just fine,Some people say the HD595 sound better, but it think for the price that there would not be that much improvement,i highly recommend these head phones, looking for comfort and fantastic sound at good price

Even Better after simple mod -- 2010-07-28
I love these headphones, everyone is raving about them in the reviews so I'm just gonna suggest the foam mod that is floating around for these HD 555 headphones. It is a very simple mod that you can look up online or even youtube. Foam is installed and hinders these lovely headphones from the open air design, some claim they may be on par with the 595s but I can simply say they sound even better than before.

The whole process involves removing some simple snap on pieces of the cans, a simple small phillips head screwdriver is used to take out a few screws to reach the sticky rectangular foam strips that block the air. The foam strips come off easily and the headphones can be reassembled easily. Sounds difficult but it is very simple and painless mod, enjoy !

Beats Studio by Dr. Dre - Hi-Def Noise-Canceling Over-Ear HeadphonesBeats Studio by Dr. Dre - Hi-Def Noise-Canceling Over-Ear Headphones

Broken Beats Studio -- 2010-07-26
Well I was on my way to Iraq and wanted a pair of Bose QC-15, but at the airport they were overpriced. Saw these at a Best Buy kiosk and purchased them. Opened box, put in the batteries and they did a decent job with my Ipod touch. However the mute decided it wanted to be intermittent.

Contacted their customer support and ended up sending them back for repair, and they can't send them back to me, so guess my wife will have to send them. Hope they work then.

Cheaply made, broken earphones -- 2010-07-24
I received my first set of these headphones from Amazon broken. One of the "B's" on the earcups was off, and I could see the underlying circuitry. These things are cheaply made, with poor quality plastic buttons, slides & clasps to hold everything together.

My second replacement pair was received the next day. These were not broken, but there is a constant buzzing in one of the earcups when you turn these things on. After trying for a day, the buzzing is still there, making this product completely unusable.

I bought these as an alternative to the Bose QC 15's, and there's no comparison. Bose makes a FAR better unit, of higher build & sound quality. These Monster headphones are a complete rip-off. DO NOT BUY.

Sennheiser HD-280 Professional Headphones

Overrated Sound, very poor comfort -- 2010-07-29
If you are looking for headphones for studio use, these may be for you. If not, I would pass. The sound is adequate, but not great. I listen mainly to classical music on my iPod and the string sound produced by these is kind of thin (like the old transistor radio sound) and lacks body. Also, they sound a little weak in bass and detail in the low frequencies are not very impressive. Even more of a problem is the sheer bulk of these big goofy looking headphones. If you are thinking of using these at work, know that they will look awfully big on your head. The black coiled chord is the old Bell Telephone sort, so heavy that it can pull an iPod off a table, or cause the headphones to tilt to one side if you wear them while walking around and allow the cord to drop. The sound is not good enough to justify the antiquated physical design, which needs to be updated. If you want a good pair of closed headphones for iPods--headphones especially suited for classical music--I recommend the Sennheiser HD 448 (see my review).

very nice headphone for monitoring -- 2010-07-19
this headphone HD-280 PRO is very nice and comfortable for monitoring.
and the price is very good.

Audio Technica ATHM40FS Precision Studio HeadphonesAudio Technica ATHM40FS Precision Studio Headphones

A bargain too good to be true? -- 2010-07-30
I'm adding this review to share an experience with others who might be interested in these headphones. Although this review is primarily for the ATH-M50, which I bought after returning these. For background: I am a music lover, with a high-end audio system using Vinyl as preferred source. I have a set of Sennheiser HD 600, which I use through a vacuum tube headphone amp, and a set of Sennheiser EH-350, which I use for listening on a computer or portable music player. I recently upgraded my digital music files (mostly recorded off my vinyl collection) to WAV and got quite satisfying results. This led to a need for s second set of headphones, efficient enough to use without a headphone amp. And this time I wanted closed-back for monitoring recordings, and preferably with a 1/8" jack.
I first bought the ATHM40FS, due to the positive reviews & great price. Unfortunately, they went back the next day. Yes, I didn't let them break-in for a long time, perhaps no more than 6 hours. But that was long enough for me to judge that they would never be ideal for me. Their sound was much too thin, bright, & cool for my tastes. I don't pretend to know what those touting "flat" are looking for. For me the acid test is: does it sound like the real thing? And if you have ever heard a real cello playing in your living room, you'll know that the sound of the real thing can be full bodied & rich, with deeply satisfying bass resonance. Cellos did not sound anything like that through these phones - to my ears. Before returning them, however, I had my wife listen. Like many women, she is much more sensitive to high frequencies than I am. After a few minutes, she judged them unlistenable: too bright for her also.
I know more break-in could improve this, and that many people actually like this type of sound, for its clarity & detail resolution, so it's not a criticism - just part of the search for what sounds best to our own ears. I then chose to look much more carefully at the online reviews, reading between the lines where necessary, and ultimately decided to stay with Audio Technica (because something about the sound was beguiling)& try the ATH-M50s.
For those comparing the two, they are nowhere near such a bargain. They cost almost 2.5 times as much, when I bought them. But right out of the box they sounded much richer & warmer, without the treble emphasis which can bother some of us. Listening via the modest headphone amp in my Dell laptop, they sound as good as the HD 600s. When the Sennheisers are used through the my ASL headphone Amp they, however, move into another league (to my ears). I found the ATH-M50s to be very listenable from day one: warm enough, detailed enough, with great bass response, and,to me, well worth the difference in price. I chose the coiled cable version, which I prefer for mobile listening. And they come with a 1/8 mini plug, screwed into a 1/4" plug. Perfect for use with portable player or amp.

5 Stars from a VERY picky audiophile -- 2010-07-28
Credibility: I am an audio engineer and know a thing or two about audio.

I typically don't use headphones because of the poor frequency response and therefore misleading interpretation most headphones give to the source audio. And because most of the ones I've used have been uncomfortable. These phones have a great natural response that will reduce listening fatigue and they are very comfortable. Simply put, I have yet to find a better set of phones for the money. If this set is in your price range, do yourself a favor and get them. Now.

To me, the only con about these phones is the 1/4" jack. I replaced it with a standard 3.5mm jack and use an adaptor to 1/4" if necessary because that is more sturdy than adapting from 1/4" to 3.5mm.

Great set. 5 Stars. Nothing more to say.

Oh, and I've had these for years now.

Beats Solo by Dr. Dre On-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk (Black)Beats Solo by Dr. Dre On-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk (Black)

Don't waste your money -- 2010-07-29
I would have given this product a flat out "0" if I could. 5 people in my office received the Solo beats by Dr. Dre in January 2010. 6 months later (July 2010) and four of the five headphones have cracked beyond repair (beyond use as well), all in the EXACT same place. I can't believe that Dr. Dre would put his name behind such a faulty product. Look elsewhere if you want headphones that will last.

Fun headphones, but not for audiophiles. -- 2010-07-12
I've owned these headphones for about 6 months now and I am still on the fence. There is a lot of truth in all of the other reviews on this board, but I just wanted to have my two cents and sum it up in my own way.
These headphones are not studio headphones, and they are not really meant to watch movies either. Furthermore, they are not particularly good headphones to use on a plane(nor in any enclosed space with other people) as they allow a lot of sound to clearly leak out. In other words people can hear every word of Domestic Violence off of Bobby Digital when you are on the bus. Fair warning.

These headphones are best worn while rocking out in your house. The reason why Lady Gaga is involved with this brand is possibly just because her music sounds so epic on these headphones. The bass is the loudest I have ever heard on a pair of headphones as well. I had to set the volume limit on my iPhone.

That said, these headphones have a crucial flaw which you will discover if they ever come off while you are rocking out. They are fragile and I'm not using that term lightly. Thankfully they stay on well but having just broken my first pair by dropping them from chest height onto carpet I wouldn't want to drop them on concrete from the same height. If you apply too much pressure from the bottom the headband will just snap at the metal joint. The warranty is nice though, they didn't ask any questions. Just told me to ship them back with a copy of the receipt and they would send me a brand new pair. Makes me wonder what kind of actual cost Monster incurs for one of these units. Must be pretty low, but it's in the mail as we speak.

They really do justice to top 40 hits. I've listened to a lot of things I have no interest in just because these headphones made them sound interesting. A lot of modern music is mixed down to sound good on radio and on computer speakers. These headphones are the cure to that mixing because they do not accurately reproduce sound at all. They are like the car stereo of an overzealous 16 year old and I love them for that.

To conclude:
DON'T buy these headphones if you need accurate reproduction of sound cause it is not in these. Also, don't buy them to work out or even to wear out of the house as they bleed sound badly, are not very sturdy and will stain pretty quickly if you go with the white ones.

DO buy these headphones if it is your birthday or you just got three weeks of pay at your new job. If $200 means nothing to you, go to the Colorware website and get some custom Studio Beats and then you will get the same experience. These headphones are the definition of splurging, especially when you consider that more balanced headphones can be purchased for less than a $100.

Still only 3 out of 5, their main drawback is buyer's remorse and the inflexible headband.
