 | Samsung U5 MP3 Player 2 GB MP3 Player (Black)
Accessories -- 2010-07-02 BE AWARE!!!!! Item DOES NOT come with silicone case, arm band or neck lariat as the descriptiion leads you to believe.
In general I recommend this device -- 2010-06-30 I have had four MP3 players. This is a nice one, not perfect but quite good, especially considering the price.
I have been using this device for about six months. There are two things I do not like about it. One is that the controls are symmetrical, so I cannot operate the device by touch. When I want to do something I have to look at it. The second is that I have trouble wearing it around my neck. It has a clip designed for a shirt pocket, but nothing I can attach to a lanyard (other than the clip, which doesn't work too well).
There are many things I like about it. You can use the windows operating system to transfer files. This is not necessary, however, because there is some nice software which automatically loads from the device to the computer when you plug the device into the USB port. The screen layout of the device is clear and contains a great deal of information. The battery charge from the USB port lasts a long time. The file handling on the device is easy.
The thing I like the best is that when you fast-forward, the device speeds up the longer you hold the button down. I like to listen to long files, so this is a nice feature for me. I have not used the radio and voice recorder much, but when I have used them found them easy to use.
I recommend this product.

Great player -- 2010-06-08 This is a terrific mp3 player -- I returned two others before I got this one. It is very easy to manage and sort through files on the player, and you can drag and drop on your computer. The buttons are easy to control; you don't accidentally skip through a file by hitting a button the wrong way. You can also lock the buttons so that you don't accidentally hit a button while moving around, etc. You can delete files from the player itself. It has a radio that receives stations very clearly, much better than other players I've had. I am very happy with it.
Great Gift -- 2010-04-09 Bought this MP3 Player for my girlfriend since she wanted an MP3 Player that wasn't too expensive and I didn't want her to get something too cheap that it ends up being a cheap quality.
This MP3 Player is like a low priced high quality MP3 Player (that's what she said) after she got it. Since she's a fan of cutesy stuff, she loved the tiny icon featured on the screen that she could name herself. She told me she loved it.
Besides, the MP3 Player itself was an inside joke of something else as a birthday present for her. lol...

Cannot shuffle all songs - useless for me -- 2010-08-04 This review refers to the Samsung YP-P3 Firmware version 2.22
As I just found out through personal contact to samsung support, this absolutely great sounding player does'nt have a standard 'shuffle-mode'.
It can only shuffle songs within one folder, you can never shuffle between artist or albums unless you put EVERYTHING in one folder.
There are some more software-bugs concerning the menu-programming but what the heck :-)
Don't get me wrong: This is a fantastic sounding Player (I use Ultimate Ears Triple Pro Inears) but no shuffle? Ridiculous !

Dear Samsungs, as soon as you have fixed this BIG BUG, please post here as well and let us know!
This is really cool!!! -- 2010-07-29 I got this Mp3 player last week, and I am having a good time with it. I give this item 5 STARS. The touchscreen is really responsive, the sound quality is good, it has bluetooth and much more. Ofcourse it doesnt have wifi or access to the internet, but WHO CARES!!!! when it comes to media, which is what really matters, this player is one of the best out there. I recommend this product for everyone. You did a great job on this one, SAMSUNG.

 | Samsung P3 Palm Theatre Plus 16 GB MP3 Player (Black)
Total disappointment -- 2010-08-23 I've had this player for about 5 months now. It had a bunch of good reviews from trusted sources, so I bought it as an upgrade from my 8GB Sony. Now I regret it. From the first use I never really liked it, and I like it less and less every time I use it. Here's why:
- The touch screen is sometimes unresponsive and always finicky. By unresponsive I mean, it will ignore presses seemingly at random. By finicky, what I mean is, it often selects something other than what you wanted to select. When browsing lists of artist/albums/songs, it is very easy to hit the wrong one. Also, the player will mistakenly interpret 'presses' as 'flicks' fairly often, so you will go to select something, and BAM! away you scroll to the other end of whatever list it was you were browsing. At first I thought it was just me, but after trying more touch screen players, it is clear that the touch screen in this one is just not very good at responding to input.
- The UI is very sluggish ... browsing between songs/albums there is about a 1/2 to 1 second delay in between selecting something and actually seeing the results of the selection. In some cases, the delay appears due to loading stuff, in other cases, it is the result of Samsung putting totally pointless animations on the menu elements. Combined with the flaky touch screen, the delays are an absolute killer to the usability of this product because you so often end up needing to go 'back'. Also, there is visible tearing in the screen image when you scroll through lists of stuff, which isn't really a huge deal but all the same I find it annoying.
- The sound quality isn't terrible, but it isn't nearly as good as what I was hoping for. I could never seem to get it to where I liked it after any amount of fiddling with the EQ. Again, it's not terrible, but it definitely lacked the clarity and depth that I was used to.
- After plugging it in to the computer, it takes too long to be recognized. It often takes about a minute before it shows up. This happens on multiple computers, and only with this device, so I know it's not an issue with the PC. I never even used the emodio software. Once it is recognized things seem to work OK over MTP, never had any problems there.
- The unit takes too long to power on, in part because of a frivolous startup animation with some inane sound effect. It also plays a sound effect when it powers off, which it will do when you aren't using it. So you'll just be sitting there doing your own thing and then it plays its little shutdown sound. After this you have to mash and hold its little power button, and wait for 3-5 seconds before it's back to where you left it.
- Album art frequently fails to transfer over properly so you get the 'no album art' placeholder. Also, it can get confused if you have 2 albums by the same name -- it will show album art for the older album with the newer songs.
- The navigation is not that great, it takes too many presses to do important things like 'go to the home screen' or 'go back to what is playing'. When you are listening to a song, you can traverse back up the hierarchy but not forward, so if you say go up a level or two, and then you want to go back to the currently playing song, here is what you have to do: hit the 'speaker' icon, which opens a menu containing the 'home' icon, which takes you to the home screen, where you select 'music', which opens a list where the first option is 'now playing', which takes you where you want to be.
- Some options related to music playback are not immediately accessible from the music playback screen, most notably the equalizer. You have to go back to Settings on the home screen in order to get to the EQ.
There's more but you get the point. I can't really recommend this player for anybody because of the issues with navigation / unresponsiveness / sluggishness. I've updated the firmware and it didn't help so I've basically given up on this player. I really wanted to like this but I just can't, and I have now replaced it with something that works a lot better.
the best mp3 player! -- 2010-08-09 I already have Yepp-S3 MP3 player, but i wanted another one with bigger memory. and i actually made dicision to get P3, because it's from samsung Yepp. it is the most trustful company among all the other companies! the interface is so pretty and the quality of the video is really good. really love it!

Only player with "Skip Interval" setting. -- 2010-07-18 When it came time to replace my old Samsung MP3 player (not holding charge very long anymore) I bought about a dozen various other inexpensive MP3 players. My only two criterias were 1)controls without having to look at it 2)30sec skip interval in both fwd and rev to skip past those commercials in pod casts.
I was surprised to see that Samsung was the only brand that had skip interval. All the others skipped to the next file if you pressed fwd, or scanned forward if you held down fwd.
The "skip interval" on the samsung is adjustable to 5sec, 10sec, 30sec, 1min or an entire song (or file).
All the controls are easy to do without looking if you use it everyday. But it's easy to re-learn if you don't use it everyday.
My only complaint is the USB cap fits too snug and is slippery. So, unless your hands are sticky, you can't pull it off. But that's ok. I just leave the cap off.
Since Samsung is the only brand with the skip interval feature I hope they never abandon it. I'm sure in a few years the internal battery will stop holding a charge and I'll have to get a new Samsung.
Excellent for the $$ -- 2010-07-12 What I use it for: listening to audio books while working at and around home and while running errands
Pros: Inexpensive. Easily loads 4 books at at a time. Works with the standard audio library downloads. Returns to the same place in the book if I the unit off, pause it and it turns off or even if I run the battery down an need to recharge before I can turn it on and restart my book. It has a ffwd and rew. The battery will last all day and charges quickly (manual claims within 2 hrs but it has been closer to 1.5 hrs after I drain it). The back clip is sturdy and feels secure. I wear it on my shirt pocket but on my pants pocket where it sees a lot of shifting, it tends to pop off and end up swinging but I don't expect that the clip will break soon. Recharges with a generic wall plugin USB adapter so I don't have to take my computer with me when all I need is charging. The USB cover is tight and unlikely to ever be lost.
Cons: I really wanted a unit that ran on AAA batteries - I couldn't find that unit. The volume is a little quiet for loud areas and I had to buy a earphone set that had a volume slide which boosted the volume while I was mowing lawn and doing other loud things. The ffwd and rew are difficult to key without accidentally hitting the chapter fwd/back and need to be done with the tip of a fingernail in order not to spend several minutes getting back to where you were just a second ago. Only a chapter at a time can be deleted on the player rather than the whole book (album) unless you connect to the computer.

 | Samsung Q2 Flash Memory 8 GB Portable Media Player (Black)
Nice player -- 2010-09-04 I purchased the Q2 on the suggestion of a friend and as a usable way to make my .wma music library portable. I am finding that Samsung makes some very cool products and this player is an affordable example. The touch controls are fairly easy to use even for a fat finger like me. It is somewhat limited in its shuffle ability. I have not used the EmoDio support software much. I have synced it to Windows Media Player and imported music, created playlists, etc. My only real regret is not spending a few more dollars and getting the 16 GB.
great Player, for much less than I-pod -- 2010-03-26 this is a great Player for the price. Has great sound with earbuds or with my powered speakers, i still am getting used to the touch screen so some times my big fingers hit the wrong function but thst is minor if you want a great MP-3 at a great price get tthis one

Nice alternative to an iPod -- 2010-08-14 Really like the ease of use (expected from a Samsung)...also a fan of the widgets and customizable interface...the built in speaker comes in handy as well...battery life wasn't quite as advertised and proprietary USB connection are the only real downsides...in short: a very nice device for a very nice price!
Okay mp3 -- 2010-08-01 It was awesome at first, until the few little glitches started to happen. It started with the green screen to the mp3 shutting down or simply restarting itself...=\ it doesn't happen that often but it is annoying when it does that. Graphics are great, sound and other applications are also of great quality. Touch screen is easy to use and the little free and weird mini games in the mp3 were cute as well.
Overall, I'd give a 3.5~4. if it weren't for the few glitches I'd give it a 5/5!

 | Samsung P3 Palm Theatre Plus 32 GB MP3 Player (Silver)
Finally an MP3 I didn't return! -- 2010-07-28 I love Samsung and now even more so. This MP3 player is awesome. I returned a Cowon J3 and the Microsoft Zune previous to receiving this. The software is horrible as many other users have pointed out, but you don't need it anyway. Hopefully Samsung will improve that aspect. The only suggestion I made to Samsung was the capability of "shuffling" pictures during the slideshow function. I'm a little disappointed that they didn't think of that. And the calendar fuction is a little weak as you cannot actually created anything, just import. But it's an MP3 player, not a PDA!
Overpriced, and no apps -- 2010-06-09 I paid $244.00 for a 32gb unit. Its very compact. It looks bigger then it is in the advertisement on Amazon. "Wheres the apps or widgets???" there aren't any. Maybe there will be some in the future, but you get what comes on the unit. The review on Amazon said it used Divx, so I bought the Divx program, and converted my movies to Divx to store on the Samsung P3. The movies wouldn't play. I experimented with all sorts of conversion programs, and found out that avi & windows media are the ones that work. Maybe if I wanted an Ipod I should have bought an Ipod. I thought this was an Ipod clone, but its not.
The volume leaves a lot to be desired. I had to buy a "Boostaroo" to amplify it to play the headphones, and to plug in to the accessory plug on my 2008 Burgman Scooters radio.
The widgets that are on the Samsung P3, and the menu's have to be tapped a couple of times to get it to work.
All in all, its not a bad unit and the reason for the 4 stars is the lack of widgets available.

The Samsung Palm Theatre MP3 -- 2010-08-25 By far the best MP3 device I have ever purchased from Amazon, and believe me when I say this, because I own more then 14 other MP3, devices. This Samsung Palm Theatre is my favorit!!
