 | Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones
Indispensables!
No sound without battery -- 2010-03-10 It is a great peace of engineering. However, it is strange that you cannot listen to music without noise canceling. My old cheap Philips noise-reduction headphones can be used as a regular ones even if a battery is down.

 | JVC HANC250 High-Grade Noise Cancelling Headphones
Happy with this 100$ purchase. -- 2010-03-12 This is a good quality headphone with great noise reduction, good carrying case, and is very comfortable to wear. Some reviews said the cord was short, but it works great at my desk. It will be great for plane rides also. If you are looking to spend around a 100$, this headphone is the way to go. I did a lot of research and made some returns before I decided to go with this guy.
Great purchase! -- 2010-02-25 I recently took a "road warrior" job and knew I'd be spending a large amount of time in aiplanes in the future. I read many of the reviews here, including the many different types of Bose Quiet Comfort headphones, and always found myself coming back to this set. The price was unbeatable for the quality and the reviews were quite good. I used them immediately after receiving them, and haven't taken out the old ear bud set since. The noise reduction really is good - I find it effectively reduces and sometimes even eliminates outside conversations around me, and the sound quality is very good, also. The longest I've worn them is about 4 hours, and I haven't gotten "hot ear" or even any kind of soreness at all. I love the hard shell case the headphones came with, and while yes, it's a bit bulky, I know that my investment is well protected. The zippered pocket inside is also handy, which holds the cord (detaches at both ends in case you just want the headphones on for noise reduction), my earrings, an extra battery and my business card.
I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone who is in the market for a quality, well-priced pair.

 | Sony MDRNC7/BLK Noise Canceling on-ear headphones (Black)
Noies attenuation -- 2010-03-13 Absolutely ineffective in attenuating truck cab noise. There was no difference between having the phones off or on. Maybe an ear cup design would work better than having the earpieces sit on top of the ears.
Good price -- 2010-02-28 I decided to buy these because they're cheap and the average review rating is the same as a $350 pair of noise canceling headphones. They're my first noise canceling headphones and I'm too cheap to pay much more for headphones.
I travel often and even if you use these only on air travel one time, they're worth the price. I wore them on a flight from DC to South Korea, which was over 22-hours of flight travel time, a night sleeping on the floor with 40 other people, then a 4 hour bus ride to my final destination. I had done the same trip 5 weeks before and the noise of the people on the plane and even the air movement gave me a debilitating migraine, so I bought these and a pair of Eagle Creek Travel Gear Comfort Eye Shade ([...]) and I will never travel without this pair again. They drowned out the noise of the air and the people, I enjoyed my music and the movie and slept much better with them on.
I now wear them in my office to drown out the noise of other people, walking to work, and while listening to radio, a movie or music on my iPod when I'm cleaning, vacuuming or doing dishes.
A few minor complaints are: if you're listening to these at a higher volume, then person next to you will probably hear every word, when in my backpack the "on" button for the noise canceling feature comes on all the time and wastes battery power--but I've had these for 2 months and using them a LOT and haven't changed batteries yet) and if you have glasses or wear them for a long time, it hurts after a while, but a slight adjustment every few hours and you'll be fine.
For the price, i'd buy them again and really suggest giving them as a gift with the Eagle Creek eyemask to anyone who travels or commutes a lot.

Thanks again to all of you that Rated these I glad I read this before I went and spent another 400.00 plus dollars or so.
A must for airtravel. -- 2010-03-09 It reproduces good quality of sound and it covers the ear nicely, without feeling tight or stuffy. Very efficient battery usage. Although it cannot block the aircraft engine noise completely, it can help you create your Economy CLass travel to Business Class travel, on your ears. :)

 | Audio Technica ATH-ANC7B Active Noise-Cancelling Closed-Back Headphones
Not as good as older model -- 2010-03-12 My previous pair of Audio Technica headphones were stolen. They now make this model which aren't as good. The material on the ear isn't as soft and comfortable and the noise reduction quality doesn't seem as good (even though it's suppose to better). I never understand why some companies have to go and mess with a perfectly good product.
Audio Technica ATH-ANC7B (notice the B!) vs JVC HANC-250 and Logitech -- 2010-03-10 We've owned the Logitech noise-cancelling headphones for a few years. My wife uses them when vacuuming, flying, etc. My job has moved to a noisy cubical, so I need my own pair. I tried to find another Logitech, but they are out of production. Needing to stay in the same price range, and get good sound, active noise-cancelling to block continuous noise, and over-the-ear cups to passively block conversation and clatter, I bought the JVC HANC-250.
The JVC HANC-250 have comparable noise-cancelling ability in the office environment, comparable physical construction, and comparable sound quality. The Logitech, when turned on, have a barely noticeable low background hiss, but the JVC HANC-250 hiss was somewhat louder. After a several minutes of listening to music in the office, I noticed that the hiss was louder in the left ear. After a couple of days, this left-ear thing became annoying. Finally, I returned them as defective.
I then bought the Audio-technica ATH-ANC7B. They cost maybe $20 more, have comparable physical construction (although a little tighter on the ears), superior music fidelity (less boomy, more balanced, better definition in the highs), and hey! great noise-cancelling. Much better. All the steady office hum and rumble is gone, and more noticeably, there is no hiss at all. I don't have to cover the hiss with music. It's just quiet in here.
About the leakage issue others have mentioned, if I play the music loud, and someone comes into my cube, they can hear faintly that I have something on. This is not a problem. For the price, I highly recommend the Audio-technica ATH-ANC7B.

 | Sony MDR-NC60 Noise Canceling Headphone
Great -- 2010-03-13 I have a pair of these that I use when I play drums. I've seen alot of negative comments about these, so I wanted to clarify what these were made for. These headphones were not made for BASS and LOUD VOLUME. They were made to reduce the strain on your ears by allowing you to cancel outside noise, which in turn means you don't have to turn them up so loud. Expect a flatter sound out of these, and to turn the volume lower than you normally would. If you want bass and loud volume, get regular headphones. These are really great headphones, comfortable and and light-weight. My only complaint is with the noise-cancelling setting; when I'm playing my drums, I can't use the noise-cancelling feature because the outside noise is too loud for the mic, and causes and unpleasant rumble. Other than that, they are great. They still shield my ear from damaging loud noises. I highly recommend them.
DO NOT BUY THESE -- 2010-03-11 I used to be a huge Sony fan. Never again. Their quality has been horrible of late.
I purchased these headphones from Amazon in September 2009. I am now on my THIRD pair of them, and these have broken as well.
The first set lasted for about 3 weeks and then decided to randomly emit a very high-pitched squealing noise when the noise-canceling feature was turned on. It was, obviously, a less-than-pleasant experience when it happened. They were replaced via Sony's product replacement policy.
The second set (which I received 4 weeks after shipping my first set back) experienced the same issue within the first week. I called Sony and asked for a refund, which they refused. I spent a great deal of time with Sony trying to just give me my money back. 2 sets of these expensive (IMHO) headphones crapping out within 3 months was enough for me to be done with them. No dice. I called Amazon and spoke to a very nice rep who was entirely apologetic, but could not refund them for me because the refund period had expired. (I should have just returned the first set and been done.)
Finally, I just took the headphones into an actual Sony store and explained the issue and that the Sony customer support was a complete PITA. He couldn't refund my money either, but did offer me a brand new set off the rack with no questions asked. I was satisfied and extremely grateful.
...and now the THIRD SET is doing the EXACT SAME THING. It's like some kind of high-pitched feedback that completely cuts out one of the earpieces when the noise canceling feature is on.
I have no recourse, and I'm over it. These headphones are complete crap (they work fine without the noise canceling, but I could have saved about $60 by getting a different kind altogether).
DO NOT BUY THESE. You WILL be disappointed.

 | Panasonic RP-HC55-S Headphone (Silver)
Great product -- 2010-03-09 Great product. Earpieces are a little hard to get used to. Good noise reduction in this price range. I only wish that the volume slide on the headphones could be locked so that you don't accidentally blast your ears.
Piece of junk -- 2010-03-07 I love all my Panasonic equipment except this POS. I tried to use them for about 2 months and then they started to pop and crack. I threw them away and GOOD RIDDANCE.

 | Sony MDR-V700DJ DJ-Style Monitor Series Headphones
Beautiful sound, decent construction -- 2010-03-07 Quick review -- the sound is amazing, the headphones are very comfortable and the noise cancellation is flawless. The construction is of mostly plastic, but I am not worried since I am not going rough on them like a DJ using them heavily would. WELL worth the money!
sony mdr v700dj headphones -- 2010-02-28 I BOUGHT A PAIR OF THESE 3 YEARS AGO, THATS HOW LONG THEY LASTED ME BEFORE THEY FELL APART....
I GOT MY MONIES WORTH...3 YEARS OF EASY MUSIC LISTENING....
I BOUGHT ANOTHER PAIR ( AT HALF THE PRICE ).
THATS HOW MUCH I LIKED THEM.

 | Bose® QuietComfort® 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones
Disappointed -- 2010-02-21 I previously owned Shure in-ear noise cancelling headphones and found them to be quite uncomfortable to wear. I was anxious to try this set of Bose QC3 on ear headphones since I noticed so many other people traveling using them and Bose has such a good reputation. I have to admit that I was disappointed in the sound cancelling function of the QC3s. Although they are lightweight and comfortable and they do reduce the ambient noise, they definitely do not cancel it. Based on some of the reviews where people stated it was almost disorienting to have such silence while wearing these headphones I expected much more noise cancelling function. I could clearly hear the dialog on the tv 6 feet from me while noise cancelling was turned on. I have yet to try them on a plane but based on my initial test run at home I think they are nice headphones, but not worth the money if you are buying them to travel and want peace and quiet while on a plane.
They're decent at best -- 2010-02-11 Although I don't own the headphones I did borrow my friends pair for about a week to compare to my other phones at home.
Durability: For the price I'd expect more durability because for a cheaper price you could get a pair of sennheiser or beyerdynamic headphones which are built like tanks.
Comfort: They felt pretty comfortable at first but after a while my ears started hurting so I had to take them off for a break.
Sound quality: They sounded muddy compared to my denon d2000s and the bass was a little overpowering for me even though I am sort of a bass-head. Sound quality wise these are probably in the $50-$75 range. Much better headphones can be had for cheaper. My friend thought these were the best he'd ever heard until he tried my denons, now he has a pair of denons and gave the bose to his brother =P.
Isolation: I didn't really find the noise cancellation to help too much. It cut out some noise, but because the noise cancelling works by introducing additional noise it actually lowers the overall sound quality of the headphone. If you're really concerned about isolation I would look into some hi end in ear monitors. For this price range you could get a pair of shure se530s, sennheiser ie8s, westone 3s, or ultimate ear triplefi 10 pro, all of which have better sound quality.
These headphones are decent at best and if you take the time to do a little more research on other brands you'll find a whole other world of better headphones. If you thought Bose was the pinnacle of audio quality you clearly haven't heard any real hi end audio.

 | Beats Solo by Dr. Dre On-Ear Headphones with ControlTalk (Black)
WOW! -- 2010-03-09 I bought these headphones after strongly debating over these and the studio editions. Well these have just as good a sound quality as the studios, have a sturdier build, and are smaller and more compact. The ipod playback is a HUGE plus. they look stylish and feel even better. While the studios are noise cancelling, they require batteries, and the price of that adds to the 300 dollar studio price tag. These are not noise canceling but are noise dampening, like the bose over the ear headphones and you only hear a slight hum in the backround. the bass is better than expected, too. if you are wondering if they are worth 200 bucks, i would suggest trying them. I think monster could definatly sell these for $40 cheaper but they dont. but i would recommend them if you want to hear your music at its best.
The "Monster" BROKE! -- 2010-03-06 Great looks and very nice sound, but the quality is disappointing. The headphones broke after just three weeks of use! They actually snapped like a twig while I was trying to put them on, I couldn't believe it! Unacceptable for a $200+ pair of headphones.
