 | JVC HANC250 High-Grade Noise-Cancelling Headphones
Solid for the price, but not perfect -- 2010-09-03 I purchased these headphones because they had good reviews and cost 1/3 as much as top-rated Bose models. Having used both, the Bose have far better noise canceling, but I don't think it's worth three Benjamins to get more noise reduction. Here are some categories I felt should be explained:
Build Quality - As far as I can tell, these things are solid. The headphones come with a hard zipper case that includes a couple of audio connectors. You get a 1/4" adapter, an airplane adapter, and a somewhat short cable that plugs into the headphones. This is nice because you can unplug the cable from the headphones if you're just looking for noise canceling. The headphones seem sturdy, but I'll update if there are any problems.
Audio - One thing that disappointed me about the audio was the frequency response when the headphones are turned off. The bass levels are pathetic when turned off, so it is almost always necessary to turn them on to listen to any music. While this is in no way a deal-breaker, it's something to be aware of. Once the 'phones are turned on, the response is good. The bass is strong and doesn't sound muddled, and the treble is clean as well. If you're not getting the sound balance you want, mess with your EQ settings--9 times out of 10 they'll be set for a different genre.
Noise Canceling - The canceling on these headphones isn't advertised as perfect--the box states 85%. I'd say this is accurate. One thing I noticed is they do a MUCH better job of canceling low frequency noises than higher frequencies. For example, deep rumbles caused by the air conditioning are much less noticeable than, say, a small personal fan. The same is true for voices; higher-pitched voices tend to cut through more easily. However, they do a very solid job and I am pleased. I haven't tested them on an airplane yet, but I will update shortly with the results.
Comfort - Some people have issues with on-ear headphones like these, but personally they have been fine. I've worn them for over 3 hours straight and haven't had any discomfort. However, people have ears of varying sensitivity, so just be aware that these are NOT over-ear cups.
In conclusion, these are some solid headphones for the price. Even though they have some sad response when turned off and aren't great at canceling upper-register noise, I am happy I purchased these instead of a Bose model.
Good travel headsets -- 2010-08-31 I had been using an earlier model of JVC noise cancelling headset for years. I was very happy with them. When I lost them earlier this year I did quite a bit of research and concluded that these were the best value for dollar.
I was pleasantly surprised by how much better the noise reduction was over my previous pair. I also like the "firm" shell storage container. I do not have any experience with the Bose headsets although I have tested Koss in the past. I stand by my assessment that it is the best value for the price.

 | Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones
the best -- 2010-08-31 I bought this one mainly for using on airplanes. When it is on my ear, I feel like sitting in a Lexus 430 cruising on smooth freeway. The sound quality on airline audio is also good, warm and well balanced. On my ipod, I set the equalizer to "flat", and every thing is good. The build quality is also good, the same league as my Mac Book pro. This is one of my best purchases.
Good, noise-canceling, But overly priced -- 2010-08-30
Pros: Good, noise-canceling, Great sound Quality.
Cons: As usual with any bose product these noise-canceling are overpriced for the overall product. Any other manufacture would price them at reasonable $199 or less.
Summary: If you can find these on sale less then $199 or moreon ebay, craiglist, clearance close outs, Buy it.

 | Panasonic RP-HC55-S Noise-Cancelling Earbud Headphones (Silver)
Love this product for the first few weeks. -- 2010-09-02 These are quite simply the most comfortable headphones I have ever worn. I found them on the Consumer Reports review. They perform well in every way, and the only downside on average is the pen sized battery pack; but this can be clipped underneath a shirt and almost forgotten about. This is probably the only issue for most; I had another issue. Only a couple of weeks after I purchased the product, I turned my head and experienced a loud, high pitched squeal from my headphones. This hurt. It got more and more frequent and at one point I leaned my head forward and the music I was listening to died completely. Now I have dealt enough with electronics and re-soldered enough cords to know not to wind my headphones; so these simply wore out in a matter of weeks. I'll contact the manufacturer today to see if they will cover repair or replacement and update this review accordingly.
I left two stars because I completely love the product itself and obviously from the other reviews you can tell that not everyone has an experience as unsatisfying as mine has been.
Cheers!
-Caleb
didn't see the battery was needed when I ordered -- 2010-08-25 I am ok with the sound and noise reduction quality, however I was surprised to learn that I needed a battery. It is in a pen light sized tube that was between the I-pod and my ears. That means you have this pen light thing hanging down, or you need a shirt to attach it too. I would not get it again, and will be more careful to look at the pictures more closely. Of course you have turn the pen light thing on and off as you use it, or the battery runs down and you are dead in the water and need a new battery. It isn't always convient to have to carry extra batteries.

 | Beats Studio by Dr. Dre - Hi-Def Noise-Canceling Over-Ear Headphones
Very nice headphones, I love them. -- 2010-09-03 Before I start my review, I'd like to say that I am not an audiophile, but I do love music. So this review is towards the regular listeners who love music.
I received these two days ago, and I was really anticipating its arrival, and I am very satisfied with these product.
Since many like concise reviews, I will list the Pros and Cons.
Pros
-Very good packaging (If anybody cares about that)
-Great audio quality, well balanced and you can really feel the "dimensions" of music
-Sexy design
-Extremely Comfortable
-Good case, not the best, but will still get do the work of protecting the headphones
-Good extras (mute button, 1/8 to 1/4 jack, two cables (one with control talk, the mic quality is impressive), and thanks for the AAA batteries, Monster)
Cons
-Noise canceling isn't as effective as I hoped it would be (i listen to my ipod nano 5g on about 25~45%)
-The hinges do not seem too strong (and one side of the headphones do not line up perfectly)
-Very expensive
-Can't function without batteries
-Sound leaks very badly (50% on ipod nano 5g)
The overall build quality is pretty good, but I personally believe that if treated roughly it may break, especially around the hinges.
The build quality on the hinges could be improved.
I would recommend the studios to the people who have the money. If the cost is too much, I wouldn't buy these, as there are many lower-cost headphones with decent sound.
solid headphones, pricey. -- 2010-08-31 i got these as a gift about a year ago and they've been great. i can't really complain about the sound quality, they're really good. although you can get a pair of some grados for a lot cheaper, the dres have the wow factor and the 'style'. as for mobility, they're great, they fold up and come with a convenient little case. they're easy to use, but eventually you get tired of wearing them, but they're comfortable enough. the item quality was good, until about 5 months in when the piece of plastic above the earcup on the outside fastened on by the screws straight snapped off, almost as if the screws wore through the plastic and created bigger holes than the screws were meant to be in. they were obviously manufactured for about 60 dollars (of raw component price) and then marked up with a logo of a known musician.
these headphones are like buying the designer jeans of the audio world. so if you've got the money, you wont be disappointed. but if you're on a budget do yourself a favor and get a pair of high end seinheisser phones or a pair of grados. if you are not familiar with grado, the grado SR125 is a good model to look at.

 | Philips HN 110 Folding Noise-Canceling Headphones
Don't throw your money away on Phillips HN 110 Headphones -- 2010-09-03 I am greatly disappointed in these headphones. I bought them because they claim to be noise canceling. NOT! They look impressive, BUT......... I can't tell that they reduce noise at all, and the the little earbuds that came with my MP3 player have a better quality of sound. They are a bit cumbersome to unfold and put on and they become uncomfortable after a little while. I will probably give them to the church flea market. Someone will be happy to try them for two or three dollars.
Stay away. Stay far away. -- 2010-09-02 I'm not sure who's rating these things but they should immediately draft a note of apology for all the customers they've duped. These things suck...and I've owned a few pairs of 8 dollar headphones. The dynamic range is nil. It's like listening to music with a pillow over your head. The noise canceling properties are negligible. I'd venture to say that most of it probably comes from the ear pads. They literally sound the same with the noise canceling on or off. What really makes them unusable is the horrible sound quality. Horrible! Just horrible (sob)!

 | Sony MDRNC7/BLK Noise Canceling on-ear headphones (Black)
Better Choices available! -- 2010-08-27 These are a nice set of headphones and appear to be a good quality build, but if you want true noise-canceling these do not do the job. They say they block 84% of outside noise...NO WAY! Maybe 20-25% and that is being generous. I think there are better choices in this price range.
SONY MDRNC7 NOISE CANCELING HEADPHONES: great ! -- 2010-08-27 why pay $350.00: pay $35.00 and get great headphones with the SONY MDRNC7. I HAVE LISTENED TO BOTH.

 | Active Noise Cancelling Headphones
Great price and design but sound quality is sometimes lacking. -- 2010-08-26 Wow, first off I want to say that this was a really good deal. These headphones would start at 40 dollars at other places. But here is a small review.
The Product: 3/5. These are good headphones and I love the set up, but you don't always get the best sound quality, especially from the computer (It makes a low tone sound when plugged into a computer when the NOISE CANCELING is ON, you can turns it off and not have this result.)
Also like I stated earlier, I thought you had to had batteries to use these headphones, but that is not the case, they are only for the noise cancel feature (which is an ok quality) so you don't even have to have the batteries, which is nice.
It came with a cool bag and plenty of add ons for multiple devices. Although the main cable is of cheap build (but you can easily replace it)
This is what I was looking for. GREAT DEAL and SUPER fast shipping, it came 6 or 7 days EARLY. My only problem is the sound quality, but I'm still not sure if it is from the cable that is interchangeable or if it is the headphones themselves. Enough with my babbling. Take advantage of this deal!
Excellent value! -- 2010-08-24 I purchased these headphones after my beloved Logitech noise reducing headphones were damaged; upon finding that they were discontinued I began a search for the following: Noise reducing, over the ear headphones WITH A DETACHABLE CABLE, and preferably under $100. I wasn't able to find any in that price range. When I stumbled upon these I was cautiously optimistic. Primarily I use them for commuting via bus and subway; I wanted the detachable cable so I had the option to just use them to remove the clamor of subway travel so I could start and end my workday with a little peace.
For the price, these things are ASTOUNDING. The noise cancellation does have a slight hiss, so if you're not listening to music it's more noticable but as stated- it's much preferred to the whine of jet engines or subway tracks clicking by. To avoid a repeat of my situation where my favorite headphones were broken and discontinued I may just buy a couple of spares! Even getting 3 or 4 more is still less money than anything similar I've found. I love these headphones!

 | Audio-Technica ATH ANC3BK NoiseCancel Earphone BK!
Decent product -- 2010-09-01 The noise-cancelling was lacking as was the comfort and returned the product. Also, the cord is awkward. Some cons: The battery compartment is heavy and the lower half of the cord is too short (it does come with an extension).
No volume control. -- 2010-08-28 This unit has no volume control; it is either on or off. The case is convenient and there is a monitor button, as advertised, but it has no in-unit way to attenuate the sound coming through the earbuds.

 | elago E3 In-Ear Noise-Reducing Earphones with Superior Comfort (Compatible iPhone 4, 1G/3GS)
Excellent Headphones -- 2010-08-31 This product is great! It fits comfortably in your ear and has great base.
Terrible earphones -- 2010-08-27 Tried changing the different sized ear plugs and found that it was literally impossible to change. Do not purchase this product if you have ears too small or too big. The default size that is on there will continually to fall out.
