 | Bose® QuietComfort® 15 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones
No sound without battery -- 2010-03-10 It is a great peace of engineering. However, it is strange that you cannot listen to music without noise canceling. My old cheap Philips noise-reduction headphones can be used as a regular ones even if a battery is down.
Bose lives up to the reputation -- 2010-03-09 These headphones were worth every penny.
I didn't used to be a big fan of noise canceling headphones - instead opting for the Shure e2c's in the past (also a great pair), but I needed noise canceling phones because my work environment is bustling.
These headphones made a big difference in my ability to concentrate. They're durable, very comfortable (I took a star off comfort only because they're not great over glasses, but still much better than other over-ear phones), and the noise-canceling feature produces clear sound while drowning out background chatter and noise.
My taste is rock, blues, and classical, and I was happy with the sound reproduction with all three genres.
They're an expensive set of headphones, and I tried Audio Technica's prior to this purchase for a less expensive option, but once I heard the Bose, I didn't hesitate to make the purchase. Definitely worth it.

 | JVC HANC250 High-Grade Noise Cancelling Headphones
Great purchase! -- 2010-02-25 I recently took a "road warrior" job and knew I'd be spending a large amount of time in aiplanes in the future. I read many of the reviews here, including the many different types of Bose Quiet Comfort headphones, and always found myself coming back to this set. The price was unbeatable for the quality and the reviews were quite good. I used them immediately after receiving them, and haven't taken out the old ear bud set since. The noise reduction really is good - I find it effectively reduces and sometimes even eliminates outside conversations around me, and the sound quality is very good, also. The longest I've worn them is about 4 hours, and I haven't gotten "hot ear" or even any kind of soreness at all. I love the hard shell case the headphones came with, and while yes, it's a bit bulky, I know that my investment is well protected. The zippered pocket inside is also handy, which holds the cord (detaches at both ends in case you just want the headphones on for noise reduction), my earrings, an extra battery and my business card.
I would highly recommend these headphones to anyone who is in the market for a quality, well-priced pair.
Good! -- 2010-02-22 I bought these in September 2009 after much research. It was Bose or JVC. Bose was three times the cost and, after reading the reviews, didn't seem worth three times the cost. Thus far I have flown on several domestic flights, two flights to the Middle East and one flight to Europe with the JVC headphones. Wow - I can't believe I've been flying all these years without noise canceling headphones. Ambient noise reduction is about 80% in the lower frequencies (such as the roar of a jet engine). This product is comfortable. The max time I wore the headphones was 13 hours and after about 10 or so hours, my ears were started to hurt from the pressure. Yet not having them on was worse! I would just take them off for about 5 minutes and be good to go. Music reproduction was fine and enhanced by the noise canceling effect. It has a nice, sturdy carrying case with a zippered pocket for accessories. Others have criticized the battery location inside the left speaker assembly. Yeah, it's a little weird. That said, changing the battery is easy and battery life is long: like 15-20 hours. I am very satisfied.

 | Sony MDRNC7/BLK Noise Canceling on-ear headphones (Black)
Good price -- 2010-02-28 I decided to buy these because they're cheap and the average review rating is the same as a $350 pair of noise canceling headphones. They're my first noise canceling headphones and I'm too cheap to pay much more for headphones.
I travel often and even if you use these only on air travel one time, they're worth the price. I wore them on a flight from DC to South Korea, which was over 22-hours of flight travel time, a night sleeping on the floor with 40 other people, then a 4 hour bus ride to my final destination. I had done the same trip 5 weeks before and the noise of the people on the plane and even the air movement gave me a debilitating migraine, so I bought these and a pair of Eagle Creek Travel Gear Comfort Eye Shade ([...]) and I will never travel without this pair again. They drowned out the noise of the air and the people, I enjoyed my music and the movie and slept much better with them on.
I now wear them in my office to drown out the noise of other people, walking to work, and while listening to radio, a movie or music on my iPod when I'm cleaning, vacuuming or doing dishes.
A few minor complaints are: if you're listening to these at a higher volume, then person next to you will probably hear every word, when in my backpack the "on" button for the noise canceling feature comes on all the time and wastes battery power--but I've had these for 2 months and using them a LOT and haven't changed batteries yet) and if you have glasses or wear them for a long time, it hurts after a while, but a slight adjustment every few hours and you'll be fine.
For the price, i'd buy them again and really suggest giving them as a gift with the Eagle Creek eyemask to anyone who travels or commutes a lot.
chinese sony -- 2010-02-24 when i order it i thought sony is a good company..but it looks like this shiiiit is chinese made....after using this it give me head ache...dont buy this item spend lil more money and get something better...i am goin to return this item...

 | Audio Technica ATH-ANC7B Active Noise-Cancelling Closed-Back Headphones
Not big enough -- 2010-03-04 These headphones were too small for my head.
Fully extended the cups did not completely cover my ears.
The BOSE headphones fit fine.
better than spending $300 on bose -- 2010-03-03 I was very pleased with the quaility and features of these headphones. While they are not 100% as good as the bose, they are a great deal for under $150. I will buy again!

 | Audio-Technica ATHANC7 Noise-cancelling Headphones
A must for airtravel. -- 2010-03-09 It reproduces good quality of sound and it covers the ear nicely, without feeling tight or stuffy. Very efficient battery usage. Although it cannot block the aircraft engine noise completely, it can help you create your Economy CLass travel to Business Class travel, on your ears. :)
Great quality at an excellent price -- 2010-02-25 These headphones combine excellent sound quality and noise canceling, for a reasonable price. The build quality is very high, and the hard case makes stuffing them in your bag worry free. I didn't find the sound leakage to be a problem at all, considering you could only hear it in a silent environment at high volume. (This could be a problem in a lecture hall or classroom, but is a nonissue on trains, planes, or public spaces.) I find them to be quite comfortable, but the earcups take a little getting used to because they need to warm up in order to be soft. Overall, a great pair of headphones.

 | Sony MDR-NC60 Noise Canceling Headphone
headphones -- 2010-03-09 bought these for my son who flies alot. he loves them, says its the first thing he grabs when packing!
Poor Build Quality -- 2010-03-07 I studied all the different headphones in the pricepoint and decided to go with the sony ones. partially due to the brand and partially due to the reviews. The initial pair I receieved had a budding in the right ear. I returned these (but due to being over 30 days) I could not get a new pair, so I shipped them back to Sony. I then received a reconditioned pair which frankly looked used (scratches on the surface etc). This new pair has a bad coil in one of the sides so when louder music is played or music with more bass, there is an aweful crackling noise. If these units worked properly they would be decent headphones, but 2 from 2 they have been poor quality badly performing units. I cannot believe the factory reconditioned unit was even inspected as it looks like they have had a hard life. I think next time I'll go for a competitor. as Sony doesn't seem to care about quality.

 | Panasonic RP-HC55-S Headphone (Silver)
Great product -- 2010-03-09 Great product. Earpieces are a little hard to get used to. Good noise reduction in this price range. I only wish that the volume slide on the headphones could be locked so that you don't accidentally blast your ears.
Piece of junk -- 2010-03-07 I love all my Panasonic equipment except this POS. I tried to use them for about 2 months and then they started to pop and crack. I threw them away and GOOD RIDDANCE.

 | Sony MDR-V700DJ DJ-Style Monitor Series Headphones
Beautiful sound, decent construction -- 2010-03-07 Quick review -- the sound is amazing, the headphones are very comfortable and the noise cancellation is flawless. The construction is of mostly plastic, but I am not worried since I am not going rough on them like a DJ using them heavily would. WELL worth the money!
sony mdr v700dj headphones -- 2010-02-28 I BOUGHT A PAIR OF THESE 3 YEARS AGO, THATS HOW LONG THEY LASTED ME BEFORE THEY FELL APART....
I GOT MY MONIES WORTH...3 YEARS OF EASY MUSIC LISTENING....
I BOUGHT ANOTHER PAIR ( AT HALF THE PRICE ).
THATS HOW MUCH I LIKED THEM.

 | Bose® QuietComfort® 3 Acoustic Noise Cancelling® Headphones
Disappointed -- 2010-02-21 I previously owned Shure in-ear noise cancelling headphones and found them to be quite uncomfortable to wear. I was anxious to try this set of Bose QC3 on ear headphones since I noticed so many other people traveling using them and Bose has such a good reputation. I have to admit that I was disappointed in the sound cancelling function of the QC3s. Although they are lightweight and comfortable and they do reduce the ambient noise, they definitely do not cancel it. Based on some of the reviews where people stated it was almost disorienting to have such silence while wearing these headphones I expected much more noise cancelling function. I could clearly hear the dialog on the tv 6 feet from me while noise cancelling was turned on. I have yet to try them on a plane but based on my initial test run at home I think they are nice headphones, but not worth the money if you are buying them to travel and want peace and quiet while on a plane.
They're decent at best -- 2010-02-11 Although I don't own the headphones I did borrow my friends pair for about a week to compare to my other phones at home.
Durability: For the price I'd expect more durability because for a cheaper price you could get a pair of sennheiser or beyerdynamic headphones which are built like tanks.
Comfort: They felt pretty comfortable at first but after a while my ears started hurting so I had to take them off for a break.
Sound quality: They sounded muddy compared to my denon d2000s and the bass was a little overpowering for me even though I am sort of a bass-head. Sound quality wise these are probably in the $50-$75 range. Much better headphones can be had for cheaper. My friend thought these were the best he'd ever heard until he tried my denons, now he has a pair of denons and gave the bose to his brother =P.
Isolation: I didn't really find the noise cancellation to help too much. It cut out some noise, but because the noise cancelling works by introducing additional noise it actually lowers the overall sound quality of the headphone. If you're really concerned about isolation I would look into some hi end in ear monitors. For this price range you could get a pair of shure se530s, sennheiser ie8s, westone 3s, or ultimate ear triplefi 10 pro, all of which have better sound quality.
These headphones are decent at best and if you take the time to do a little more research on other brands you'll find a whole other world of better headphones. If you thought Bose was the pinnacle of audio quality you clearly haven't heard any real hi end audio.

 | Shure E2c Sound Isolating Earphones
EXCELLENT HEADPHONE,EXCELLENT SUOND QUALITY -- 2010-01-28 JUST GOT THESE HEADPHONES,AND THEY SOUND EXCELLENT.I WAS A LITTLE WORRIED ABOUT ALL THE REVIEWS ABOUT THE LACK OF BASS.HERE'S THE DEAL THESE HEADPHONES ARE VERY PICKY ABOUT FIT AND SEAL .YOU ABSOLUTLY MUST HAVE A PROPER SEAL AND PROPER TIP INSERTED ON HEADPHONE TO ACHIEVE THE VERY GOOD AND POWERFUL BASS RESPONSE THESE HEADPHONES ARE CAPABLE OF.THE CLEAR SILICONE TIPS ARE WAY TO STIFF TO SEAL PROPERLY,THE FOAM TIPS ARE ALSO STIFF AND SOMEWHAT PAINFULL FOR ME, BUT CAUSE A GOOD SEAL.THE BLACK RUBBER FLEX SLEEVES (SIZE MEDIUM)FOR ME WERE THE WINNING SETUP.DURING MY EXPERIMENTATION WITH THESE I FOUND THAT THE WRONG TIP WILL GIVE YOU SOME BASS BUTT WILL SOUND THIN AND NOT FULL BODIED AT ALL. SO YOU REALLY DO HAVE TO FIND THE RIGHT TIP.FOR PEOPLE WITH TINNY AND ODD SHAPED EAR CANALS WILL HAVE TO EITHER GIVE UP ON THESE ,OR HAVE CUSTOM EARTIPS MADE WHICH SHURE GIVES A PHONE NUMBER IN THE PACKAGE FOR INFO ON THIS .HIGHS AND MIDS ARE ALSO VERY CLEAN AND PRECISE.AND THE CLEAR SHELL IS REALLY COOL TO LOOK AT.IM GLAD I BOUGHT THESE DESPITE THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS ABOUT THE BASS. BECAUSE THESE REALLY DO SOUND GREAT.
good, not great. -- 2010-01-21 I've owned these phones for about 3 years now. These are the phones I travel with a few times a year. Their compact size makes them ideal. I used to travel with Grado SR80's, but their size was annoying. The Grado's are great and if you don't mind the size, I would highly recommend them.
I initially had some issues with the fit. With any in ear head phone the fit is important for both comfort and the sound quality, so make sure you get that right. Otherwise they will be uncomfortable and not sound as good as they can. I ended up using the smallest foam size and I have to very carefully compress the foam before I put it on. I also have to jam it in pretty good into my ear. But once in they really do block out other sounds, at least as good as other cheap active noise canceling headphones. This also leads to one of the problems I have with them, after a few hours they become uncomfortable.
The build quality on these is also very good. The cables are nice and thick and look like they will last a good long time. Other headphones I have had, like the Etymotic, had thin flimsy cables which made me concerned as to whether they would last without breaking.
Sound quality wise, they are very good. Much better than the units that comes with an iPod and they are also better than the Etymotic 6i I also owned. The bass is ok, not great. Mids and highs are very good. Another good thing is that these are medium efficient, so you won't need to push the volume all the way up to get a decent volume out of them.
I paid $70 for these and I think they are a good value at that price. I am once again shopping for new phones and will use these as my comparison. I would ideally want small phones that sounded as good as my Grados
